The Tides of San
Cristobal
WELCOME TO ALL
You are approaching a gateway beyond which an
idyllic vision conceals rumblings of discontent, oppression,
tragedy,
passion
and the treacherous tides of San Cristóbal. Pass through on your journey
to uncertainty into ISLAND FURY.
Never one to do the expected, Cornelia
Thornton, willful young Boston socialite sheds her
philandering fiancé and her privileged life to abscond with
the much older Miguel Estrada, newly hired overseer of a vast
sugar cane plantation on the Caribbean island of San
Cristóbal. Her fantasy of an exciting adventure in an alien
land is short-lived as she becomes trapped in a loveless
marriage and a virtual prisoner held in isolation. Defying her
husband. Cornelia begins discreet visits to the barrio and
into the nearby mountains to take food and medicine to the
destitute plantation families. On one occasion she strays off
the trail and into the domain of Pablo Veracruz, wealthy and
powerful coffee grower, the clandestine leader of a conspiracy
against the despotic government. Their confrontation ignites
the spark of a dangerous liaison. Fueled by irresistible
passion, Cornelia and Pablo are swept up into a perilous world
that could lead to their destruction.
I enjoyed writing this book and I
