AUTHOR
BIO
I am a native of
Ponce, Puerto Rico, where my early years were intertwined
with life on a nearby sugar cane plantation. This
circumstance enabled me to gain the background to write this
story.
I met my life's
partner, an officer the U.S. Army Air
Force, during WWII. In the ensuing years we settled,
first in Massachusetts, where we were blessed with
two wonderful daughters, and later here in
California. During this time I studied cosmetology, received
my license, owned and operated three
beauty shops. I also contracted with a locked
patient care facility to operate their beauty shop
where I was often called on to counsel patrons in
various stages of mental health. As a teenager I had
taken a lively interest in my island's politics. I have
continued this interest to this day. I am also an avid
supporter of environmental and wildlife causes. All this
time an undercurrent of interest in writing ran through
me. I longed to express the deep feeling I have for
the indigent and disenfranchised of my country and those I've
encountered here. That dream was realized with the publication
of my first novel, Island Fury a year ago. Although
not autobiographical, I tried to recapture the era and life I
remembered from my earlier years. Encouraged by the
response to my book I am presently writing a sequel to
Island Fury and have two additional stories waiting in
the wings.
Notes 'n News
This mid-summer of '06 in Sacramento has been no time to sit
outside in sun or shade, with sweltering, record breaking, triple
digit temperatures. On the other hand, it has made easler the
decision to stay at my desk and write the sequel to Fury to
please those of my readers who have urged me to produce one. I'm
pleased with way it’s coming along. Pablo and Cornelia face a crisis
that tears them apart and reveals the existence of dual forces of
evil that have a common goal -- revenge.
While all this is going on I have another
project to occupy my time -- constructing a greenhouse to
accommodate my tropical plants. This will serve another purpose, as
well; a quiet getaway where I can relax and observe the interaction
of nature on the other side of the latticed screen. With the coming
of fall, I’ll have to pick up my pace so my faithful readers soon
will have another adventure to enjoy. For more on my progress
and other musings, I invite you to drop into my weblog anytime
